۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
