۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 Are we then not to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
