۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
