۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
