۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
