۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
