۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
