۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
