۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 What, do we then not die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
