۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Are we then not to die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
