۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
