۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits, and they shall be highly honored, 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
