۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
