۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Quran) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism). 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In gardens of delight, 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Are we then not to die 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
