Those who (in charity) spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. 274 Those who devour usury will not stand up on the Day of Judgement, except like the one whom an evil jinn has deranged by his touch; that is because they said, “Trade is also like usury!”; whereas Allah has made trading lawful and forbidden usury; for one to whom the guidance has come from his Lord, and he refrained therefrom, is lawful what he has taken in the past; and his affair is with Allah; and whoever continues earning it henceforth, is of the people of fire; they will remain in it for ages. 275 Allah obliterateth usury, and increaseth the alms. And Allah loveth not any ingrate sinner. 276 Verily those who believe and work righteous works and establish prayer and give the poor-rate, theirs shall be their hire with their Lord: no fear shall come on them nor shall they grieve. 277 O believers, fear you God; and give up the usury that is outstanding, if you are believers. 278 And if ye do not, then be warned of war (against you) from Allah and His messenger. And if ye repent, then ye have your principal (without interest). Wrong not, and ye shall not be wronged. 279 If he should be in hardship, then a postponement until ease; while if you give charity it is better for you if you know. 280 And fear a day wherein you shall be returned to God, and every soul shall be paid in full what it has earned; and they shall not be wronged. 281
