Noah called to Us, and We are the Best to answer. 75 And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity, 76 and We made his offspring the survivors. 77 And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 78 Salamun (peace) be upon Nuh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" 79 That is how We reward those who do good. 80 He is indeed one of Our high ranking, firmly believing bondmen. 81 [and so We saved him and those who followed him] and then We caused the others to drown. 82 ۞ Of his party was Abraham. 83 When he came unto his Lord with a whole heart; 84 and [thus] spoke to his father and his people: "What is it that you worship? 85 It is falsehood that you desire gods other than Allah! 86 What then is your opinion of the Lord of the Worlds? 87 And he cast a glance at the stars, 88 And he said: verily I am about to be sick. 89 so they turned their backs on him and went off. 90 Then turned he to their gods and said: Will ye not eat? 91 What aileth ye that ye speak not? 92 He then began striking them with his right hand, unseen by the people. 93 whereupon people came to him running. 94 He said, "How can you worship what you yourselves have carved 95 Whereas Allah hath created you and that which ye make? 96 They said, "Build a pyre for him and throw him into the blaze!" 97 And they devised a plot for him, but We made them the humble. 98 Abraham said: “I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 My Lord! Bestow on me a son who will be of the righteous. 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 When his son was old enough to work with him, he said, "My son, I have had a dream that I must sacrifice you. What do you think of this?" He replied, "Father, fulfill whatever you are commanded to do and you will find me patient, by the will of God". 102 When they both agreed and Abraham had lain down his son on the side of his face (for slaughtering), 103 We called out to him: "O Abraham, 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 For this was obviously a trial- 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 Thus do We reward the doers of good 110 Surely he was one of Our believing servants. 111 Then We gave him the good tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, one of the righteous. 112 We blessed him and Ishaque (Isaac), and of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves. 113
