Noah had called upon Us (earlier). See, how excellent We were in answering him! 75 And We saved him and his household from the great distress, 76 And We preserved his descendants. 77 And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all the worlds' 79 That is how We recompense the righteous: 80 He is indeed one of Our high ranking, firmly believing bondmen. 81 Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood. 82 ۞ Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham. 83 when he came unto his Lord with a pure heart, 84 When he said to his father and his people: "What is this you worship? 85 Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire? 86 what, then, is your opinion of the Lord of the worlds? 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars, 88 And said, "I am sick," 89 So they turned away from him, and departed. 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said, 'What do you eat? 91 What aileth ye that ye speak not? 92 Then he attacked them, striking with his right hand. 93 So the people descended upon him. 94 Said he: What! do you worship what you hew out? 95 Whereas Allah hath created you and that which ye make? 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased. 98 He said, "I will go to my Lord: He is sure to guide me. 99 My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous. 100 We gave him the good news that he would have a patient, forbearing son. 101 and when he was old enough to go about and work with him, (one day) Abraham said to him: “My son, I see in my dream that I am slaughtering you. So consider (and tell me) what you think.” He said: “Do as you are bidden. You will find me, if Allah so wills, among the steadfast.” 102 And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, 103 We called unto him: O Abraham! 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 This was indeed a plain trial. 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 And left (his hallowed memory) for posterity. 108 "Peace upon Abraham." 109 This is how We reward the virtuous. 110 He was one of Our believing servants. 111 Then We gave him the good tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, one of the righteous. 112 We had blessed him and Isaac. Some of their offspring were righteous and others were openly unjust to themselves. 113
