And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer 75 for We saved him and his household from that awesome calamity, 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 And We kept his praise among the latter generations. 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all the worlds' 79 Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 80 Verily, he [Nuh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves. 81 We drowned all the others (besides Noah and his people). 82 ۞ Of his party was also Abraham; 83 When he came to his Lord with a pure heart, 84 and asked his father and his people, "What is that you worship? 85 Why do you solicit false gods instead of God? 86 What do you think about the Lord of the Universe?" 87 Then he looked carefully at the stars 88 And said: "I am sick (of what you worship)!" 89 So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease). 90 and he turned to their idols and asked them, "Do you eat? 91 What aileth you that ye speak not? 92 Then he turned against them secretly, smiting them with the right hand. 93 So the disbelievers came running towards him. 94 He said, “What! You worship what you yourselves have sculpted?” 95 And Allah has created you and what you make. 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 They had contrived an evil plan against him, but We abased them all. 98 And [Abraham] said: "Verily, I shall [leave this land and] go wherever my Sustainer will guide me!" 99 My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous. 100 We therefore gave him the glad tidings of an intelligent son. 101 and when he had reached the age of running with him, he said, 'My son, I see in a dream that I shall sacrifice thee; consider, what thinkest thou?' He said, 'My father, do as thou art bidden; thou shalt find me, God willing, one of the steadfast.' 102 When they had surrendered, and he flung him upon his brow, 103 And We called out to him, “O Ibrahim!” 104 Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 105 It was certainly an open trial. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and We let it (the beautiful praise) remain upon him in the latter (generations), 108 Peace be unto Abraham! 109 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 110 Indeed, he was of Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the good news of Isaac - a prophet,- one of the Righteous. 112 We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls. 113
