And indeed Nooh prayed to Us – so what an excellent Acceptor of Prayer We are! 75 We saved him and his people from the great distress, 76 And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth] 77 We left mention of him among later generations. 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all beings!' 79 That is how We reward those who do good. 80 Surely he was one of Our truly believing servants. 81 Then We drowned the others. 82 ۞ Abraham was on the self-same way (as Noah). 83 When he came to his Lord with a sound heart 84 and asked his father and his people, "What is that you worship? 85 Would you serve false deities instead of God? 86 What then is your opinion of the Lord of the Worlds? 87 Then he glanced a glance on the stars. 88 And he said: verily I am about to be sick. 89 But they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Thereupon he approached their gods stealthily and said, "What! You do not eat [of the offerings placed before you]? 91 What is the matter with you, why do you not speak?” 92 And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand. 93 Then they advanced toward him, hastening. 94 He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve, 95 when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" 96 They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated! 98 He said: 'I will go to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 My Lord, give me one of the righteous.' 100 Wherefore We gave him the glad tidings of a boy gentle. 101 And when he reached the age when he could work with him, he said, "O my son, I have seen in a dream that I am sacrificing you. So tell me what you think of it!" He replied, "O my father, do as you are commanded; and God willing, you will find me steadfast." 102 When they had both submitted to God, and he had laid his son down on his face, 103 And We called out to him saying: O Ibrahim! 104 thou hast already fulfilled [the purpose of] that dream-vision!" Thus, verily, do We reward the doers of good: 105 Indeed this was a clear test. 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty victim. 107 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times: 108 'Peace be upon Abraham!' 109 Thus do We reward the doers of good. 110 truly, he was one of Our faithful servants. 111 And [in time] We gave him the glad tiding of Isaac, [who, too, would be] a prophet, one of the righteous; 112 We had blessed him and Isaac. Some of their offspring were righteous and others were openly unjust to themselves. 113
