And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers. 139 When he ran away to a ship completely laden, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 Had he not been one of those who acknowledge the glory of God, 143 He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a bare desert whilst he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons. 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 " Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Do you not understand? 155 Or have you received some clear authority? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 Therefore you and all what you worship. (The disbelievers and their deities.) 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 Verily we range ourselves in rows (as humble servants) 165 we are they that give glory. 166 They say, 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know. 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment? 176 But then, once it alights upon them, hapless will be the awakening of those who were warned [to no avail]! 177 And turn away from them till a time 178 And watch, for they will soon see. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 And peace be on the apostles. 181 And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 182
