Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 [Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship. 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 and caused a creeping plant to grow over him [out of the barren soil]. 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Have We created the angels as females before their very eyes? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Do you not understand? 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 can lure away from God any 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 What though they would say, 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 And yet, [now that this divine writ has been placed before them,] they refuse to acknowledge it as true! In time, however, they will come to know [what it was that they had rejected]: 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
