And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 And then they cast lots and he was the one who lost, 141 So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself 142 Had he not been one of those who glorify Allah, 143 He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 and We caused a pumpkin tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Has thy Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. – 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 “Or do you have some clear proof?” 156 Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful. 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 And surely they used to say: 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 we would have certainly been sincere servants of God". 169 And yet, [now that this divine writ has been placed before them,] they refuse to acknowledge it as true! In time, however, they will come to know [what it was that they had rejected]: 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 that it is certainly they who will be helped; 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 And leave them for a time. 178 And see thou: they themselves shall presently see. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
