Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 and they believed, and We gave them enjoyment for awhile. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Did We create the angels females, to which they were witnesses? 150 Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say: 151 'God has begotten a son.' They are certainly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. 157 They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 But as for you, and that you serve, 161 Can tempt anyone to rebel against Him. 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 We glorify God." 166 And indeed, the disbelievers used to say, 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones. 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 But then, once it alights upon them, hapless will be the awakening of those who were warned [to no avail]! 177 And leave them for a time. 178 And wait, for they will soon see. 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 And praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. 182
