So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 Had he not been of them who glorify Allah, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 Then We sent him to a hundred thousand or more, 147 And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Lo! verily it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 Will you not then reflect? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Then bring your Book if you are truthful! 157 And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him). 158 Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 So surely you and what you worship, 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah). 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 'If only we had had a Reminder from the ancients, 168 "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 And all praise is due to God alone, the Sustainer of all the worlds! 182
