And indeed Yunus is one of the Noble Messengers. 139 He abandoned his people 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What ails you then, how you judge? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 Save him who is to burn in hell. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). 166 And indeed, the disbelievers used to say, 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones. 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 that, verily, they - they indeed - would be succoured, 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 When it descends upon their courtyards, evil will be the morning of those forewarned. 177 And turn thou aside from them for a season. 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 182
