AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 When he fled unto the laden ship, 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded. 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 "God has begotten [a son]"; and verily, they are lying [too, when they say,] 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 “What is the matter with you? What sort of a judgement you impose!” 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Then bring your Book if you are truthful! 157 And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him). 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 except the servants of God, sincere and devoted. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 shall not be able to tempt anyone away from Allah 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 we are those who stand ranged in ranks. 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 They used to say before: 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 “We would certainly be the chosen bondmen of Allah.” 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 That they verily would be helped, 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 When it descends upon their courtyards, evil will be the morning of those forewarned. 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And peace be on the apostles. 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
