And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers. 139 When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded. 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Is it not that they say, from their own invention, 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 neither you nor what you worship 161 Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him. 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position. 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 Had we but an admonition as had the ancients. 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 will certainly be victorious 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see. 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 But when it shall descend in their court, evil shall then be the morning of the warned ones. 177 And leave them for a time. 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
