Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 And then they cast lots and he was the one who lost, 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 and We sent him forth to a nation of a hundred thousand or more, 147 and they believed, and We gave them enjoyment for awhile. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Have We created the angels as females before their very eyes? 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or have you received some clear authority? 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 all of them except the chosen servants of Allah. 160 You and whatever you worship 161 can lure away from God any 162 Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell! 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 We glorify God." 166 What, would they then say: 167 "If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, 168 we would certainly be true servants of God." 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time. 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 And watch, for they will soon see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace be unto the sent ones. 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
