Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 And a fish swallowed him, and he was reproaching himself. 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. 151 "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 Will ye not then be admonished? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 Purity is to Allah from the matters they fabricate. 159 Except His chosen creatures who do not. 160 You and whatever you worship 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 We glorify God." 166 And there were those who said, 167 "If only we had a tradition [to this effect] from our forebears, 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn) 171 That they would certainly be assisted, 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 So turn away from them for a while. 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
