And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 Recall what time he ran away unto a laden ship. 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand, rather they exceeded. 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will you not then reflect? 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 except for the sincere worshipers of Allah. 160 Therefore you and all what you worship. (The disbelievers and their deities.) 161 You cannot make anyone rebel against Him. 162 Except the one who will go into the blazing fire. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah). 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know. 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 And all praise unto Allah the Lord of the worlds. 182
