And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers. 139 Recall what time he ran away unto a laden ship. 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Has thy Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 "God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 Therefore you and all what you worship. (The disbelievers and their deities.) 161 You cannot make anyone rebel against Him. 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 and we glorify God". 166 And surely they used to say: 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 Yet now (that it has come) they refuse to believe in it; but they will come to know soon. 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 will certainly be victorious 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And watch, for they will soon see. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 And peace be upon all His message-bearers! 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
