Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. 139 He abandoned his people 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 and the fish swallowed him while he was blaming himself. 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised; 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 “What is the matter with you? What sort of a judgement you impose!” 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 all of them except the chosen servants of Allah. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 What, would they then say: 167 If we had but a reminder from the men of old 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 and Our armies shall be the victors. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see. 175 So are they being impatient for Our punishment? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 And peace be unto the sent ones. 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
