S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Sad. I swear by the Quran, which is full of reminders of God, (that you are a Messenger). 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a marvellous thing.' 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication. 7 Has the reminder been revealed to him from among us? Nay! they are in doubt as to My reminder. Nay! they have not yet tasted My chastisement! 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or [that] the dominion over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? Why, then, let them try to ascend [to God-like power] by all [conceivable] means! 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), 12 Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. 13 There was not one of those that did not belie the Messengers. Therefore, My retribution was realized. 14
