S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sad: By the Qur'an, Full of Admonition: (This is the Truth). 1 Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape. 3 They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer. 4 Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 Never did we hear of [a claim like] this in any faith of latter days! It is nothing but [a mortal man's] invention! 7 Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. 8 Or, are with them the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Bestower? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 Here there is a host of the confederates only to be defeated. 11 The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them). 14
