S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before their time [for this very sin]! And [how] they called [unto Us] when it was too late to escape! 3 And they marvel that there should come unto them a warner from among themselves. And the infidels say: this is a magician and a liar! 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a marvellous thing.' 5 The chiefs among them go about, exhorting: Go and be staunch to your gods! Lo! this is a thing designed. 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. 8 Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
