In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 In fact, the disbelievers are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". 4 Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! 5 And the elders among them went forth saying: “Go ahead and be steadfast in adhering to your deities. What is being said is with a design.” 6 We have heard nothing like this in the latest religion. This is only his own false invention. 7 Can it be that he alone has received the Quran?" In fact, they have doubts about My Quran and this is because they have not yet faced (My) torment. 8 Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? 9 Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access. 10 They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes. 11 Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 not one [was there] but gave the lie to the apostles - and thereupon My retribution fell due. 14
