S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad. I swear by the Quran, which is full of reminders of God, (that you are a Messenger). 1 But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. 2 How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say: This is an enchanter, a liar. 4 Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." 5 And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. 6 We have not heard of this in later religion. This is naught but an invention. 7 Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower? 9 Do they own the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Let them try on their own to block (the ways of heavens so that Our revelations cannot come to you). 10 They are only a small band among the defeated confederate tribes. 11 The people of Nuh and Ad, and Firon, the lord of spikes, rejected (apostles) before them. 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. 14
