S (Saad)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Saad, by the Holy Reading (Koran) of the Remembrance. 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! 4 What! makes he the gods a single Allah? A strange thing is this, to be sure! 5 And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” 6 Never did we hear of [a claim like] this in any faith of latter days! It is nothing but [a mortal man's] invention! 7 What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. 8 Or have they the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord,- the Exalted in Power, the Grantor of Bounties without measure? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 They are only a small band among the defeated confederate tribes. 11 Before them the nations of Noah, Aad and Pharaoh, and he of the tentpegs belied, 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. 14
