S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Sad: By the Qur'an, Full of Admonition: (This is the Truth). 1 But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! 4 "Has he made the aliha (gods) (all) into One Ilah (God - Allah). Verily, this is a curious thing!" 5 And the Council of them depart, saying 'Go! Be steadfast to your gods; this is a thing to be desired. 6 We have heard nothing like this in the latest religion. This is only his own false invention. 7 Was the message sent only to him out of all of us?" In fact, they doubt My warning; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. 14
