S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Saad* – By oath of the renowned Qur’an, (Alphabet of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 They are surprised that a warner should come to them from among themselves. They say, "This is a magician, a great liar. 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 Their assembly left (saying): 'Go, and be patient to your gods, this is something to be desired. 6 We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: 7 “Is the Qur’an which is sent to him, among us?” In fact they are in a doubt concerning My Book; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? 9 Or, is theirs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Then let them ascend by (their) means! 10 Here there is a host of the confederates only to be defeated. 11 Before them the people of Noah, Ad, and Pharaoh of the tent-pegs gave the lie (to the Messengers) 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
