S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 How many a nation did We destroy before them! (When they approached their doom) they cried out (for deliverance), but the time for deliverance was already past. 3 And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” 4 Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” 5 And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. 6 We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication. 7 Can it be that he alone has received the Quran?" In fact, they have doubts about My Quran and this is because they have not yet faced (My) torment. 8 Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? 9 Or is it that theirs is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend by any 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the Companions of the Wood; - such were the Confederates. 13 There was not one of those that did not belie the Messengers. Therefore, My retribution was realized. 14
