S (Saad)
88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many generations before them did We destroy? In the end they cried (for mercy)- when there was no longer time for being saved! 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” 5 And the chief persons of them break forth, saying: Go and steadily adhere to your gods; this is most surely a thing sought after. 6 "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!" 7 What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. 8 Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. 11 Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), 12 Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. 13 not one [was there] but gave the lie to the apostles - and thereupon My retribution fell due. 14

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
