S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. 1 But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension. 2 How many generations We have destroyed before them! And they cried out when it was too late to escape. 3 Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. 8 Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 This is just one of the disgraced armies, that will be routed there and then. 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lout (Lot), and the dwellers of the wood; such were the confederates. 13 Each of them gave the lie to Messengers and My decree of chastisement came upon them. 14
