S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad: By the Qur'an, Full of Admonition: (This is the Truth). 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape. 3 So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! 4 Does he make all the deities out to be one God? This is indeed a strange thing." 5 The chiefs among them go about, exhorting: Go and be staunch to your gods! Lo! this is a thing designed. 6 We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: 7 Was the message sent only to him out of all of us?" In fact, they doubt My warning; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or, are with them the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Bestower? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 Here there is a host of the confederates only to be defeated. 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
