S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an containing reminder... 1 In fact, the unbelievers are the ones who are boastful and quarrelsome. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer. 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a marvellous thing.' 5 And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” 6 We never heard of this in the former religion. It is nothing but an invention. 7 What! Upon him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed from on high?" Nay, but it is My Own reminder that they distrust! Nay, they have not yet tasted the suffering which I do impose! 8 Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 They are only a small band among the defeated confederate tribes. 11 Before them the nations of Noah, Aad and Pharaoh, and he of the tentpegs belied, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 There was none of them but called the apostles liars, so just was My retribution. 14
