These are only awaiting for a single Cry, to which there is no delay. 15 And they say: our Lord! hasten our portion unto us before the Day of Reckoning 16 Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allah]. 17 We subjected the mountains to exalt (Me) with him in the evening and at sunrise, 18 And the levied Tair. They were all obedient to him. 19 We strengthened his kingdom, and gave him wisdom and sound judgment in speech and decision. 20 ۞ Have you heard the news of the disputing parties who climbed the walls of the prayer room 21 When they entered upon David and he was alarmed by them? They said, "Fear not. [We are] two adversaries, one of whom has wronged the other, so judge between us with truth and do not exceed [it] and guide us to the sound path. 22 Verily, this my brother (in religion) has ninety nine ewes, while I have (only) one ewe, and he says: "Hand it over to me, and he overpowered me in speech." 23 He said: Surely he has been unjust to you in demanding your ewe (to add) to his own ewes; and most surely most of the partners act wrongfully towards one another, save those who believe and do good, and very few are they; and Dawood was sure that We had tried him, so he sought the protection of his Lord and he fell down bowing and turned time after time (to Him). ۩ 24 We forgave him for this. In Our eyes he certainly has a good position and the best share (of the world to come). 25 “O Dawud! We have indeed appointed you as a Viceroy in the earth, therefore judge between mankind with the truth, and do not follow desire for it will lead you astray from Allah’s path; indeed for those who stray away from Allah’s path is a severe punishment, because they forgot the Day of Reckoning.” 26
