AND [thus it is:] We have not created heaven and earth and all that is between them without meaning and purpose, as is the surmise of those who are bent on denying the truth: but then, woe from the fire [of hell] unto all who are bent on denying the truth! 27 shall We treat those who believe and do good works the same as those who spread corruption in the land; shall We treat the pious the same as the wicked? 28 (This is) a Book (the Quran) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember. 29 And We bestowed Sulaiman to Dawud; what an excellent bondman! He is indeed most inclined. 30 Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot; 31 He said: "The love of horses is worthy of desire to me for the remembrance of my Lord;" and when they were out of sight, (he said): 32 (he ordered): “Bring these horses back to me,” and then he began to gently stroke their shanks and necks. 33 And assuredly We tried Sulaiman, and set upon his throne a mere body. Thereafter he was penitent. 34 He said: my Lord! forgive me, and bestow on me a dominion which no one may obtain beside me: verily Thou! Thou art the Bestower. 35 Then We subjected to him the wind: it ran gently by his command withersoever he directed. 36 As also the evil ones, (including) every kind of builder and diver,- 37 The rest of the devils were bound in chains. 38 “This is Our bestowal – you may therefore bestow favours or withhold them – you will not be questioned.” 39 And verily for him is an approach with Us, and a happy end. 40
