And We have not created the heaven and the earth and all that is between them without purpose; this is what the disbelievers assume; therefore ruin is for the disbelievers, by the fire. 27 Shall We treat those who believe and do good like the mischief-makers in the earth? Or shall We make those who guard (against evil) like the wicked? 28 It is a Blessed Book that We have sent down to you (Prophet Muhammad), so that those possessed with minds might ponder its verses and remember. 29 We bestowed upon David (an illustrious son), Solomon. How excellent a servant (of Ours he was)! Indeed he constantly turned to Us in devotion. 30 [Mention] when there were exhibited before him in the afternoon the poised [standing] racehorses. 31 And he said: Lo! I have preferred the good things (of the world) to the remembrance of my Lord; till they were taken out of sight behind the curtain. 32 "Bring them back to me!" -- [he said] and began to stroke their legs and their necks. 33 And We did try Solomon: We placed on his throne a body (without life); but he did turn (to Us in true devotion): 34 Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower." 35 Then We made the wind subservient to him; it made his command to run gently wherever he desired, 36 And the unruly, every builder and diver (made We subservient), 37 And many others bound in bond. 38 We said: "This is Our gift, so give or withhold as you wish without reckoning." 39 And verily, he enjoyed a near access to Us, and a good final return (Paradise). 40
