And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them in vain; that is the opinion of those who disbelieve then woe to those who disbelieve on account of the fire. 27 Are We to make those who believe and do good works the same as those who corrupt the earth? Are We to make the righteous as the wicked? 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 To David We gave Solomon (for a son),- How excellent in Our service! Ever did he turn (to Us)! 30 Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot; 31 And he said: Lo! I have preferred the good things (of the world) to the remembrance of my Lord; till they were taken out of sight behind the curtain. 32 He then ordered, “Bring them back to me”; and he began caressing their shins and necks. 33 And We did try Solomon: We placed on his throne a body (without life); but he did turn (to Us in true devotion): 34 He said: “My Lord, forgive me and bestow upon me a kingdom such as none other after me will deserve. Surely You are the Bounteous Giver.” 35 We subjected the wind to him, so that it blew gently at his bidding, wherever he directed it, 36 as well as all the rebellious forces [that We made to work for him] - every kind of builder and diver 37 The rest of the devils were bound in chains. 38 "This is Our gift," (We said to him), "so bestow freely or withhold without reckoning." 39 And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end. 40
