We did not create heaven and earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who deny the truth. Woe betide those who deny the truth, when they are cast into the Fire -- 27 shall We treat those who believe and do good works the same as those who spread corruption in the land; shall We treat the pious the same as the wicked? 28 This is a blessed Book which We sent down to you [Muhammad], for people to ponder over its messages, and for those with understanding to take heed. 29 We bestowed Solomon on David who was an excellent devotee, for he turned to God in penitence. 30 When there were displayed before him, in the afternoon, well trained horses of the highest breed [for Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause)]. 31 He said: "The love of horses is worthy of desire to me for the remembrance of my Lord;" and when they were out of sight, (he said): 32 Bring them back to me' And he hacked their legs and necks (slaughtering them for Allah). 33 And We certainly tried Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned. 34 He said, "My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower." 35 Then We subjected to him the wind: it ran gently by his command withersoever he directed. 36 And also the Shayatin (devils) from the jinns (including) every kind of builder and diver, 37 and others joined together by (iron) fetters. 38 (Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning. 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
